An iPhone macro photograph of my ten year old sourdough starter just after I fed it. I love to make all kinds of sourdough bread and even use this for making batter for fried vegetables and muffin batter. I started it from scratch over ten years ago and have kept it alive ever since by keeping it in the refrigerator and feeding it at least once a week. It can also be put into stasis by freezing it and will last for years until you are ready to reactivate it by thawing and kickstarting it with a teaspoon of baking powder.
