Description
This butterfly box is one of the only examples of handpainted work that I did long ago to give away as gifts. This was before I ever got a cell phone or a computer. I bought inexpensive wooden boxes at craft stores and enamel model paints and used toothpicks for brushes to paint cloisonne style designs on the boxes. Then I varnished them with 7 or 8 coats of varnish and glued red felt to the inside to make a fancy trinket box.
This is the one I made for my husband's grandmother in 1997 for a Christmas gift. When she passed away we moved into her house and inherited all her stuff and I got the box back. That is the only reason I can show it to you now, because I never took photos of the things I made for people before I gave them away.
