Description
When I first saw this funny caterpillar I thought it was a tiger swallowtail because of the yellow and black bands. You can imagine my surprise when I tracked it down in a field guide and found that it is a clouded crimson moth caterpillar and looks quite different than the flying thing it morphs into. In the photo I used to make this digital painting from, it is feeding on the host plant which is the Guara or Crinim Lily a wildflower that has delicate pink flowers that look a lot like honeysuckle.
