Description
Here in Oklahoma one of the most popular trees/bushes is the lovely Crepe Myrtle, so named because the flowers look like crinkled crepe paper. I said tree/bush because they can be both depending on how you prune them. Some folks like to cut them back from the bottom making a tree, but we have several in our yard that we cut back from the top every fall and every summer they reward us by bushing out and blooming heavily. At full bloom they look like giant balls of cotton candy! These beauties are a favorite subject matter for me when I am out with my camera and you might see more of them in this portfolio because I love them so much! On cool mornings I like to get out and catch that golden hour and on this morning the myrtles were basking in the sunlight. So I made a digital painting out of the photo I took that day.
