Description
The Pony Bridge along US Hwy 66 in Oklahoma stretches more than 3,900 feet and consists of 38 “pony” trusses, hence its nickname. The bridge is famous because it appears in the 1939 Oscar-winning film “The Grapes of Wrath.” This bridge crosses the Canadian River between the towns of Bridgeport and Hinton.
This is a photo I took from the passenger seat of our pickup as we were driving across the bridge one late afternoon. I was enjoying the shadows the sun was casting on the pavement and the reflection in the hood of the truck. I added an Instagram style filter to bring out the yellows and blues.
