Artist's Description
This is my black and white barred rock mix young rooster also known as a cockerel. He just began to crow last week and already has it down! We named him Mr. Cogburn and he will hopefully be the best out of five roosters we ended up with in our small backyard flock of eighteen chickens. The rest of the other four confirmed crowers that I had hoped would be hens have had to be renamed things like "noodle", "dumpling" and "stew". Five roos is just too many for such a small flock, they would be hard on the hens and stressed out hens do not lay lots of eggs.
This is an iphone shot I took this morning and edited in Gimp to fade out the colors and give it a selective color vintage look. I took it for the fineartamerica one day photo challenge today 6/12/23 that the theme was black and white.
