A male black and white spotted dragonfly, also known as a skimmer stops for a rest on a branch at just the right moment for me to capture him frozen in time. These predators are so abundant in my area that in the twilight of early morning and late evening during the summer months they appear as swarms of tiny kamikazi dive bombers circling round and round each other ridding the air of midges and mosquitoes. I have even had them hit me in the head before as they attempted a flyby. I do love to watch them!
