Description
Try not to be jealous, but this is the view from our 10 acres of land in rural Central Oklahoma in the fall when the colors are in full glory, looking south across the north Canadian River to the green winter wheat fields on the distant ridge. Being born and raised in Colorado, I used to think nothing could be prettier than when the aspens turned; that is until I came to this spot of land and in the autumn of 2011 God showed out with the most amazing blaze of color I have ever seen. The bright yellow trees are cottonwoods, which are related to aspen, both being in the poplar family and the shades of orange are the oaks with the evergreen eastern red cedars in the foreground. I filled my memory card up with shots of colorful trees that year and some of them like this one made great digital oils. The fall color is always pretty here but I still haven't seen any since this one that has been more vivid.
