Description
I live pretty close to these railroad tracks that are still actively used by the Union Pacific. This town used to be a railway hub for the Rock Island Line and we still have a restored train station and museum and streets and stuff named after the Rock Island Railroad. I like hearing the horns blow as the engineer warns drivers that he is coming through. Most of our crossings have arms and lights now but there is still this one close to my house that leaves it strictly up to you the car driver to watch and listen for the oncoming train. On the day I took the photo that I used to make this painting the train was actually parked so I could take my time and get a good shot.
