One of my hobbies is identifying local wildflowers in my area and one of my favorites is this funny golden bushy headed bud of the yellow Tickseed Coreopsis. Before they open fully to reveal the ray petals they look like messy little bed heads and never fail to make me smile. When they are budding like this they resemble wild marigold blossoms. They got the name tickseed because they have little prickly seeds that stick to your clothing or an animal's fur. Around these parts we call them "stick tights".
