This dramatic sunset with the vividly colored purplish orange clouds happened on a stormy day in the summer of 2012 The day had been fraught with thunder storms that filled the sky with heavy dark storm clouds and just before the sun disappeared in the west, the sky started to clear just enough for the sun to light it up with the vibrant colors you see here. I did not alter the colors when I made this into a digital oil painting, it really was that dramatic! Stormy days make for the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets here in central Oklahoma.
