I was inspired by an ugly art contest that was only accepting hand drawn or painted artwork and since it has been many years since I have created anything but digital artwork, I had to go back in time and dig up some of my early drawings. I found these three that I felt really fit the ugly art genre but I could not decide which one to submit and when I created them back in 1992 I meant them to go together. That is what led to this strange triptych of Three Uglies, formally known as Three Emotions. They are Despair, Disdain and Disgust. I drew them first on paper with pencil then went back over them with ink and for this piece I digitized them and arranged them into a trio for online display.
I think this will be the beginning of a new collection and I will work on adding more of my old hand drawn artwork that I still have. Much of it I gave away as gifts to friends and family and never kept any record of it. But I do have a few that I kept and I will clean them up, digitize...
Everywhere I look, I see art. If you cut me, I bleed art. I am an artist from birth. It is a talent and a gift God gave me. I specialize in old school digital art, botanical, abstracts and photo manipulation with an emphasis on light and color. One of my goals as a digital artist is to create art that doesn't look digital. My style is eclectic and I focus less on exact details and more on impressions and feelings.
